HealthIT Week 2019

September 23-27, 2019 marks HealthIT Week, highlighting ways to effectively utilize technology as a catalyst for improving patient outcomes. Founded by HIMSS and the Institute for e-policy in 2006, the week-long event brings together partners from across the spectrum to get involved and demonstrate the power technology can play to positively impact population health.

The US National Health IT Week promotes 5 Areas of Engagement where technology can transform healthcare delivery and significantly improve patient outcomes. Among the five “Areas of Engagement” is Expanding Access to Broadband and Telehealth. This one seems like a natural candidate for early success. There are currently multiple government initiatives underway to deliver broadband to rural areas including the US Dept of Agriculture, Rural Broadband Access Loan and Loan Guarantee Program, FCC Connect America Fund II, and others. Making broadband available to a population of over 20 million Americans living in rural communities without broadband access enables a wide range of services to be delivered, including agriculture, education, job training, and of course healthcare.

The ability to deliver, monitor, and maintain healthcare services through broadband access can have a dramatic impact and is an area we are more than capable of delivering on. From a security perspective, however, increased access to healthcare and automation, regardless of how it is delivered, carries the increased risk of privacy and security concerns. Forsyte I.T. Solutions plays our part by working with clients and business partners to apply technology that mitigates those risks and helps with the effective use of technology to secure patient records and information.

Forsyte I.T. Solutions is proud to be a supporter of NHITWeek and the healthcare community. If you are looking for assistance on your healthcare IT journey, reach out and let us know how we can help you.
